Terms of use and legal disclaimer
Effective August 8, 2026. Plain language, because terms nobody reads protect nobody.
1. Not legal advice
Nothing on this site creates an attorney-client relationship. The content is general information about Texas alcohol law, published for educational purposes. Laws change, local rules vary, and the application of any rule to your specific circumstances may differ from what is described here.
2. Accuracy and limitations
We work hard to be accurate and we cite our sources on every page, but we make no warranty that the content is complete, current, or free of error. In particular:
- Local option elections can change wet/dry status at any time, and our data reflects the date stamped on each page.
- An individual business may be more restricted than the law requires, by the terms of its own permit or by choice.
- Statutory text is reproduced from public sources and may lag legislative amendment.
Where we are uncertain, we say so on the page. See About the data for our sources and known gaps.
3. Age requirement
You must be 21 or older to purchase or consume alcohol in Texas. This site is intended for adults seeking information about the law. Nothing here should be read as encouragement to purchase or consume alcohol.
4. No liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, DrinkLaws and its operators are not liable for any loss, penalty, citation, or damage arising from reliance on this site. You use it at your own risk. If you are making a decision that could result in a permit violation or a criminal citation, verify it with the TABC first.
5. Third-party links
We link to statutes, government datasets, and occasionally to retailers or delivery services. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content or practices. Some outbound commercial links may earn us a commission at no cost to you; this never affects what the law says on our pages, which is determined solely by the statute.
6. Privacy
We do not track you. There are no advertising cookies, no analytics profiles, and no accounts. We use privacy-preserving, cookieless analytics that count page views without identifying visitors, and we do not sell or share data because we do not collect any to sell.
7. Acceptable use
You may read, link to, and quote this site with attribution. Systematic scraping, bulk copying of the rule data, or republishing the content as your own is not permitted. If you want programmatic access to this data, get in touch — we would rather give you a proper interface than have you hammer the pages.
8. Changes
We may update these terms as the site develops. The effective date at the top reflects the current version.
